With technology, especially communications technology, advancing at its current rate , wireless networks are becoming increasingly available for the small business and even home user. In this issue, I will discuss the pros and cons of wireless high-speed internet, as well as security risks, along with some basic steps one should take if he or she decides to implement a wireless network. I’ll be including some screenshots from a Linksys WRT54G router setup page, other routers can and probably will be different or have slightly different categories, but the basic ideas remain the same.

First, why is this wireless trend taking off so fast? For many reasons, some of the main ones being convenience. Anyone with a wireless laptop can move all over the building, and still have internet connectivity.

Since the introduction of GUI’s (Graphic User Interfaces), the mouse has become the tool of choice for most computer
users. Unfortunately this can lead people to forget that a computer can be used with equal or greater efficiency than with the keyboard, using keyboard shortcuts.The following is a reference of keyboard shortcuts that, when used with a mouse, can speed up many common operations.

In this article, I will use the + sign to show the next key in the shortcut. The italicized words represent the keys to press. All of the preceding keys must be held down until the very last key has been pressed.
